During the training and qualifying the Ponyexpres Intermoto rider improved his previous STK600 recordlap by almost a second. Showing that progress has been made by Covena and his crew.
Although Covena got a good start, he was forced to go through the gravel on the first corner when a fellow rider pushed him offtrack. Rejoining the race in last place Covena kept pushing even though he sufferd a big gap to guys in front of him. Improving his laptime every lap the Kawasaki rider was turning out laps that was faster then his qualifying time and similar to the guys riding in the top10.
"This weekend we made another step in the right direction. In practice we were able to run with the guys that were in the top15 what is a good sign. In the race my first corner wasn't so lucky as I hit with another rider, but thats racing. I didn't let it upset me and just kept pushing to till the finish. In the end I was riding faster then I did al weekend!"
The next race is at Donington-Park on the 25th of May.
